Mid Century Ranch Home
Rancho54oh is a 1964 ranch style house near downtown Asheville and the RAD. It is also the home base of designer Emily Richter and her family. Purchased in 2014, the house has undergone an extensive interior renovation and continues to be a labor of love for the her. Emily saw a great deal of potential within the simplistic box that most ranch homes are. This one offered plenty of square footage to work with and with a major overhaul from dated pastels to a crisp, modern palette. Vaulting the ceiling and opening up the living, dining, kitchen space, were a major part of the new design. The home serves the young family well.
A dark, dated kitchen was opened up with the help of a vaulted ceiling and removing walls. A large island serves many purposes and the kitchen is the hub of entertaining when guests arrive.
The Living area was once closed off and dark, was opened up to the kitchen and dining area. The fireplace surround was designed using repurposed ceiling joists and industrial chic black hex tiles. The large sliding glass door opens the room to the adjacent sunroom/design studio.
The new Master Bath replaces a single large bath that was a mess of old finishes and in bad need of repair. Moving the bath to a new location allowed an en suite bath for the master bedroom. The design uses clean design and finishes and includes simple luxuries such as a heated towel bar.
